Home to the Orangutan in Borneo, Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre is founded in 1964 with a purpose to rehabilitate orphan orangutans. This protected site with 43 sq km land houses about 60-80 orangutans who are roaming free in the reserve.
Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre is located on the edge of Kabili forest reserve. The closest town in Sabah to Sepilok would be Sandakan and it takes about 45 minutes of a bus ride to get there.
The Centre serves a purpose to care and nurture the younglings that have been orphaned due to logging and deforestation. You can visit the centre any day of the year as it opens 365 days a year at 8:45 am.
Be sure to catch a glimpse of these orangutans during their feeding time at 9:00 am to 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm
