KOTA KINABALU
Formerly known as Jesselton, Kota Kinabalu (also known as KK in short) is the state capital of Sabah and it is a city with the best of both worlds- city and nature. Kota Kinabalu is named after Mount Kinabalu, one of the highest mountains in the world.
There is so much to explore in this beautiful city. The city boasts of multi-cultural and ethnicities as well as heritage and history. The natives there consist of different tribes- Bajau/Suluk, Kadazan-Dusun, Murut, Rungus and Lun Bawang.
Kota Kinabalu parades its gorgeous city but most commonly, people come for the cultural experience.
What to do when in KK? Climb the Mount Kinabalu, visit the Mari Mari Cultural Village and be exposed and introduced to the natives, eat traditional and local cuisine which includes sago worms and the fruit of Sabah called Tarap, go island hopping, play and soak up the sun in one of the beaches and many more.
